چکیده

In order to combat transmission errors in digital communication systems, forward error protection based on convolutional codes and interleaving in conjunction with soft decision maximum-likelihood decoding through the Viterbi algorithm is often applied. The expected bit error rate for a given signal-to-noise ratio is generally difficult to foresee for a certain system. In this paper, we introduce a method which vividly treats the error behaviour on particular stages of the receiver, hereby allowing a coarse estimate of the overall bit error rate. Although no close mathematical results are given, several astonishing effects can easily be explained thus providing a better understanding of concatenated systems.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Performance Comparison of Turbo Coded Mc-cdma and Ds-cdma with Higher Level Modulation

Multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA), direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are the major contenders for wireless signaling technique. For higher data rates, the use of higher level data modulation is desirable. In MC-CDMA [1], the data-modulated symbol to be transmitted is spread over a number of subcarrie...

Evaluating the performance of turbo codes and turbo-coded modulation in a DS-CDMA environment

Recently, turbo codes have received great attention due to their outstanding performance. Unfortunately, a high performance is associated with large transmission delays prohibiting an application for speech transmission. Hence, the aim of this paper is the comparison of turbo codes employing short interleavers with convolutional codes in terms of bit error rate performance and computational eff...

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Burst-by-burst Adaptive Joint-Detection CDMA/H.26L Based Wireless Video Telephony using TTCM and LDPC Codes

A low bit-rate video coding techniques using the H.26L standard codec for robust transmission in mobile multimedia environments are presented. For the sake of achieving error resilience, the source codec has to make provisions for error detection, resynchronization and error concealment. Thus a packetization technique invoking adaptive bit-rate control was used in conjuction with the various mo...
